JOHN M. BEGAKIS  -  John@altViewLawGroup.com 

Born and raised in Los Angeles, John graduated from the Pennsylvania State University in 2008 with a B.A. in Political Science, and thereafter earned his J.D. from Southwestern Law School in 2011. From the beginning, John's practice has focused on representing entertainment professionals of all types, from writers and producers to social media influencers and digital content creators.  Today, John also represents start-up companies of all sizes and industries on matters ranging from corporate formation and financing, to IP registration and enforcement, and employment litigation.

John has a passion for entrepreneurship.  In 2014, he co-founded a real estate technology start-up called abohd, LLC, and currently sits as Chief Executive Officer.  This passion, and on-the-ground experience, helps him provide the best, most cost effective counsel for young, burgeoning companies.  John is also active in the community, serving on the Board of the charity Young Santa Monica.  When he's not working, John is probably traveling, exploring remote destinations, and pondering his next business idea. 


JASON W. BROOKS  -  Jason@altViewLawGroup.com

Jason provides transactional business and legal affairs services to content creators across a wide spectrum of the creative community. Specializing in the new media, entertainment and business space, Jason frequently works with scripted/unscripted TV producers, social media influencers, and business entities to review, draft and negotiate deal terms on a wide range of production-related projects. Jason also provides business development strategy and corporate counsel to a variety of emerging players in the digital space.  If you’re an influencer looking to monetize your content, a new business looking to establish your legal entity or register a trademark, or a digital content platform looking to draft your service/campaign agreements, terms of service and/or a privacy policy, let Jason be your guide.

Raised in Southern California, Jason graduated from UCSD in 2002 with a B.A. in Communications. He earned his J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 2006 and returned to Los Angeles to pursue his legal career in the entertainment industry. In his spare time, Jason is also an LA County Ocean Lifeguard and an avid surfer. If meeting in an office isn’t your thing, Jason is happy to schedule a consultation or strategy session out in the water.

Max’s practice is focused on transactions, licensing, counseling and brand management for clients at the intersection of digital media and entertainment. He represents a broad range of clients, including writers, producers, musicians, influencers, and start-up businesses. Max specializes in intellectual property (trademark and copyright) registration and protection, entity formation, sync licensing, publishing, PRO issues, royalty collection, and a variety of negotiation and drafting, including management agreements, producer agreements, and band/partnership agreements. Growing up in and around the LA entertainment business, Max has always been passionate about entertainment as art, and relishes the opportunity to help talented, creative people make smart choices to protect their content, their brand and themselves.  

Max graduated from Southwestern Law School in 2013 and is licensed to practice in both the State of California and State of New York. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of California-Santa Barbara, majoring in Law & Society and minoring in Sports Management. Max volunteers as an Ambassador for Sofar Sounds shows all over LA and prefers being outdoors as much as possible.


HILLARY KANE (Of Counsel) - Hill@AltViewLawGroup.com

Born and raised in Southern California, Hillary graduated from UCLA with a B.A. in Psychology.  She obtained her JD from Southwestern Law School, and then returned to UCLA to earn a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the Anderson School of Management.  Prior to joining the AVLG team, Hillary served as general counsel to Body Glove International for ten years, sitting as Vice President of Business Development for six of them.  In her role as Body Glove's global brand ambassador, Hillary developed an expertise in international branding and business.  More recently, Hillary served as trademark counsel to Telemundo, Golf Channel, Universal Picture Licensing, and other NBCUniversal subsidiaries. 

Hillary offers a unique blend of business and legal services for established businesses, start-ups and non-profits.  Her clients from a variety of industries, including the action sports, automotive, pet services, event venue and promotion, crowd funding, apparel and entertainment industries.  For the past six years, Hillary has taught popular IP elective courses at Southwestern Law School under the Biederman Institute of Media and Entertainment Law.  Hillary is also a self-proclaimed dog person, and holds a leadership role at the New Friends Homeless Center.
