JOHN BEGAKIS

John graduated from the Pennsylvania State University in 2008 with a B.A. in Political Science, and thereafter earned his J.D. from Southwestern Law School in 2011. From the beginning, John's practice has focused on representing entertainment professionals of all types, from writers and producers to social media influencers and digital content creators.  Today, John also represents small and mid-sized entertainment companies on matters ranging from corporate formation and financing, to IP registration and enforcement, to California labor law.

John has a passion for entrepreneurship.  In 2014, he co-founded a real estate technology start-up called abohd, LLC, and served as Chief Executive Officer.  This passion, and on-the-ground experience, helps him provide the best, most cost effective counsel for young, burgeoning companies.  John also teaches Influencer Law and Fashion Law at his alma mater. 

 


JAY-JAY LORD, ESQ.

Jethro "Jay-Jay" Lord is a Los Angeles-based entertainment attorney representing a diverse roster of talent, brands, and media companies. His practice focuses on advising and counseling clients at every stage of their business and professional careers in transactional matters pertaining to the music industry and brand and consumer product licensing. In addition to customary music recording and production agreements, Jay-Jay’s work includes drafting and negotiating catalog purchase agreements, featured artist agreements, endorsement, sponsorship and brand ambassador agreements, vendor services agreements, concert residency agreements, and festival performance agreements. 

Before entering the practice of law in 2006, he spent seven years in the artist development, sales, and marketing departments for such prominent music companies as A&M Records, MCA Records, and Fanscape, as well as the licensing department at ASCAP. That front-line industry foundation has proven invaluable in his legal practice, enabling him to craft creative, real-world solutions for the complex challenges his clients face.

Veronica earned her B.S. in Business, with a minor in Music Industry, from the University of Southern California. She subsequently obtained her M.A. in Communication Management at USC while working as a music clearance specialist at a large firm in Los Angeles. She completed her J.D. through Southwestern Law School’s accelerated two-year SCALE program, where she pursued an entertainment and media concentration, and was a student editor for the Journal of International Media and Entertainment Law.

From the outset, Veronica’s career has been dedicated to intellectual property and entertainment. She remains committed to supporting creatives and businesses as they navigate the evolving digital and entertainment landscapes. Her experience includes drafting agreements, conducting legal research, and advising on copyright, trademark and licensing matters. With a strong foundation in business and law, she brings a strategic approach to problem-solving, and a keen understanding of industry trends.
