For over twenty years we have represented a diverse range of clients in the music industry, the creator economy, and film and television. Our significant experience gives us an edge in knowing the best terms attainable, and our industry relationships put us in position to achieve those terms for our clients. Whether you are new to the industry, or well-established talent, we pride ourselves on being available and accessible to you, and being driven to achieve the best results for your career.

Film and Television Counsel

Our traditional media clients include writers, directors and producers of film and television, both with the traditional studios and networks, as well as with the various streaming platforms. Among the many companies we’ve worked with or negotiated deals with are ABC, NBC, Netflix, Amazon, Disney+, The CW, Comedy Central, and NatGeo

Creator Economy Counsel

Our creator economy clients include influencers, actors, models and celebrities (including now professional and amateur athletes exploiting their NIL rights), social media management companies, and digital marketing agencies representing brands. Among the many companies we’ve worked with or negotiated deals with are Facebook, YouTube, DAZN, iHeart Radio, Dear Media, CVS Health, Juicy Couture, Beckett’s, AudioBoom, Studio71, Jellysmack, and AwesomenessTV.

Music Industry Counsel

Our music industry clients include major label and independent recording artists, songwriters and composers, record producers and mixers, record labels, music publishers, and more. We routinely negotiate on behalf of our clients in their deals with such industry-leading companies as Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, Kobalt Music Group, Warner Chappell Music, Apple, Disney Music Group, Moonbug Entertainment, Nettwerk Music Group, Monster Beverage, Nike, and Marvel Brands.

Business Representation

We serve as “outside general” counsel to entertainment companies of all types, including record labels, music and influencer management companies, film and video game production companies, merchandise companies, and digital marketing agencies for brands. In this role, we provide on-going support with drafting and negotiating agreements with third parties, managing your IP portfolio, overseeing board meetings and keeping meeting minutes, maintaining your corporate status and handling corporate filings, and advising on California labor and HR-related concerns that arise. Whether you call us when you need us, or you have us on retainer, we save our business clients the significant expense that comes with having a full time, in-house legal department.

Production Counsel

We provide development and production legal services to producers of union and non-union feature films, television commercials, music videos, and digital media productions, including serial microdramas. During the pre-production and production phase, we assist with navigating union compliance issues, and negotiating and drafting financing agreements, talent agreements, and all other physical production related agreements. During post-production phase, we assist with chain-of-title and film delivery, securing errors and omissions insurance, and negotiating and executing distribution agreements. For smaller budget productions, we also offer a production legal document template suite that includes all the agreements a producer will need to handle production legal on their own.

IP Protection & Licensing

We conduct trademark availability searches, register trademarks and copyrights for clients, manage existing IP portfolios by filing all necessary maintenance documents, assist our clients in licensing or otherwise exploiting their IP, and help our clients police their IP portfolio and NIL rights via cease-and-desist notices, DMCA takedown requests, and litigation if needed. Our significant experience and knowledge of the ever-changing digital media landscape, particularly with the rapid growth of AI, also gives our clients an edge when it comes to protecting and exploiting their IP and NIL rights.

Civil Litigation

We provide cost-effective, high-quality trial counsel to plaintiffs and defendants in all types of entertainment-industry related civil litigation matters in state and federal court, including IP (copyright, trademark, NIL and trade secret) infringement claims, breach of contract disputes, and claims involving workplace harassment or other violations of California labor law. We are well-versed in high profile disputes that garner media attention, and have the trial experience necessary to take disputes all the way through trial. However, our experience negotiating transactions also gives us a unique ability to pragmatically resolving disputes before trial where possible.
